#IAMMIDCITY Reinstallation and Educational Program (2016)

Funded by the William Edwin Montan Charitable Trust, 2191 Spain Street in Mid City

#IAMMIDCITY was a social media campaign started by Mid City Studio in 2014. The hashtag is intended to celebrate and build on Mid City's emerging identity as a diverse, cultural force in the City of Baton Rouge. For this project, Mid City Studio partnered with East Baton Rouge Public Schools and the Mid City Redevelopment Alliance to design an IAMMIDCITY curriculum for 3rd grade students at The Dufrocq School and Bernard Terrace Elementary. Students learned about the area's history, geography, and culture before making maps, laying out timelines, and taking photos to document how they see Mid City. The students' photos are on display in a public exhibit in Spain Street Park at 2191 Spain Street. To learn more about the original installation of these panels in 2014, click here.
