Cranksgiving 2015

Cranksgiving is a food drive on two wheels. Part bike ride, part food drive, part scavenger hunt. It begun in New York City in 1999 and has since spread out across the United States. In 2015, we're bringing Cranksgiving to Baton Rouge.

You'll need to bring a bike, a way to carry your goods (basket, bags etc.) and about $20. A lock is highly recommended. We'll hand out a list of food items and stores, you'll have to pick your routes and get to those stores and back with the goods.

We'll have winners based on best (and worst!) times in several categories, plus shortest and longest distance, and highest and lowest dollar totals. Maybe some others if we get creative.

Registration is free, and the food items you bring back will be donated to the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank.

1:00 PM - Registration Opens
1:45 PM - Registration Closes
1:50 PM - Shopping Lists handed out, rules explained.
2:00 PM - Cranksgiving BEGINS!
4:45 PM - Cranksgiving ENDS
5:00 PM - Cranksgiving Dinner/Beverages/Awards, location TBD

Cranksgiving is only a race if you want it to be. Come and do it at your own pace, or just come hang out, have a good time and be part of a good cause.

There will be five stores to hit, and a maximum distance of about 15 miles. You get to choose your route, however, so we won't be responsible if you end up in Central.

We'll need one or two volunteers to assist at the Start and Finish. I'd also like someone to help with designing and printing the shopping lists. Maybe a volunteer to host the after-party, though we may also just end up at Chelsea's. Hit me up below or send me a message if you want to help out.

This is a public event - anyone on a human powered vehicle can enter.
