Capital Heights Social Ride

It's that time of the year again! We've had too much fun and the Capital Heights Social Rides will be ending in about a month so we're going to be sneaking in ONE SOCIAL RIDE EVERY WEDNESDAY until the fun police shut us down on November 2nd.

This week we'll be pedalling down towards the Tara area and checking out a handful of neat cut throughs that can get you from street to street while avoiding some major roads. Come join us for a pedal!

UPDATE : Our good friend Jen Bernard has offered her place as a post-ride gathering location. Thanks Jen!!!

Monday Metro Madness with Bike BR

Bike BR meets at City Park Tennis Courts

We plan our destination and our route on the day, so it's rarely the same ride twice, and we love to explore so we're happy to go anywhere the evening takes us. We typically end up somewhere for food and/or drinks, so bring your wallet and a lock for your bike! If you're looking for an adventure and are ready to see the mean streets of BR under a different light (your own!) then MMM is the ride for you. Helmets, front and rear lights required. 25 miles at 15-20mph.

Critical Mass

LSU Cycling. "We will be doing a few crits for everyone to get practice turning, riding in groups, trying tactics, and sprinting where applicable. It will be in the parking lot on Nicholson Ext. across from Patrick F. Taylor Hall. We will not be doing "A" and "B" races, but we will be doing shorter events so the field won't be too spread out."

Join us for a little bike talk, some coffee and cake balls, and perhaps afterwards we'll go for a pedal and grab some dinner.

Both members and non-members are welcome! Thanks to our friends at Brew Ha Ha for graciously hosting us!

Cranksgiving 2015

Cranksgiving is a food drive on two wheels. Part bike ride, part food drive, part scavenger hunt. It begun in New York City in 1999 and has since spread out across the United States. In 2015, we're bringing Cranksgiving to Baton Rouge.

You'll need to bring a bike, a way to carry your goods (basket, bags etc.) and about $20. A lock is highly recommended. We'll hand out a list of food items and stores, you'll have to pick your routes and get to those stores and back with the goods.

We'll have winners based on best (and worst!) times in several categories, plus shortest and longest distance, and highest and lowest dollar totals. Maybe some others if we get creative.

Registration is free, and the food items you bring back will be donated to the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank.

1:00 PM - Registration Opens
1:45 PM - Registration Closes
1:50 PM - Shopping Lists handed out, rules explained.
2:00 PM - Cranksgiving BEGINS!
4:45 PM - Cranksgiving ENDS
5:00 PM - Cranksgiving Dinner/Beverages/Awards, location TBD

Cranksgiving is only a race if you want it to be. Come and do it at your own pace, or just come hang out, have a good time and be part of a good cause.

There will be five stores to hit, and a maximum distance of about 15 miles. You get to choose your route, however, so we won't be responsible if you end up in Central.

We'll need one or two volunteers to assist at the Start and Finish. I'd also like someone to help with designing and printing the shopping lists. Maybe a volunteer to host the after-party, though we may also just end up at Chelsea's. Hit me up below or send me a message if you want to help out.

This is a public event - anyone on a human powered vehicle can enter.
