Baton Rouge Gallery First Wednesday Opening for "Fine Lines"

Join the Baton Rouge Gallery for a special 'First Wednesday' Opening Reception for the final show of BRG's 50th anniversary year, "Fine Lines." The exhibition will feature the work of five Baton Rouge based artists with unique approaches to lines within their work. 

The artists featured in this exhibition are Rob Carpenter, Rosemary Goodell, Randell Henry, Kathleen Lemoine, and Steve Schmidt. 

The exhibition will be on display December 4 - 28, 2016. An ARTiculate Artist Talk will be held at 4pm on Sunday, December 11 where visitors will be treated to the stories and inspirations behind the works on exhibit, as told by the artists themselves.

KINETICS - Premier Live Art Auction @ BRG

Baton Rouge Gallery's annual benefit fundraiser, KINETICS, returns with its fun and fast-paced live art auction on Friday, November 11 (7-11 p.m.). Located inside BREC's historic City Park (1515 Dalrymple Drive), the event celebrates the energy of contemporary art, specifically in Louisiana's capital city, providing a chance for every arts lover in town to share their passion for the visual arts while bidding on more than 30 original works from some of the region's most talented and prolific artists.

A portion of the proceeds from the event go directly to the local and regional artists that make up the gallery's artist member roster with the remaining funds going to support the gallery's facilitating of a dozen exhibitions annually and numerous well-attended cultural programs.

First Wednesdays @ Baton Rouge Gallery

For 50 years, Baton Rouge Gallery has been helping those in and around Louisiana’s capital city find the art that speaks to them and follow it. With a roster of more than 50 of the region’s best emerging and established visual artists, nearly every monthly exhibition the gallery hosts gives visitors a unique and diverse look at local art of all different media. Each exhibition - excluding January and November - is kicked off with a ‘First Wednesday’ Opening Reception (7- 9 p.m.), introducing the latest exciting work by local and regional artists to a few hundred guests. Every 'First Wednesday' Opening is open to the public, free of charge.

50/50 @ Baton Rouge Gallery

This year, Baton Rouge Gallery – center for contemporary art (“BRG”) is proudly celebrating 50 years of art exhibitions and cultural programming in service of the residents and visitors of Louisiana’s capital region. In recognition of the artists who have added so much to the area by sharing their works with visitors at BRG, the gallery will host a special retrospective exhibition titled “50/50” from July 3 – 28, 2016. “50/50” features fifty works from the gallery’s founding artist members, artists of note over the past 50 years and current artist members. 

An anniversary celebration and opening reception will be held on Wednesday, July 6 from 7 – 10 p.m. This evening will be a chance for local art fans to relive memories, celebrate the artists who have left a lasting impression on our community and BRG’s evolution from a small 12-artist cooperative gallery to a dynamic contemporary arts center with over 55 artist members. The event will include live music from The Michael Foster Project, DJ OttO, special guests, a video presentation and more. Surreal Salon -- Baton Rouge Gallery

This January, Baton Rouge Gallery – center for contemporary art will once again host its annual Surreal Salon exhibition beginning January 5 and through January 28. Now in its eighth iteration, the exhibition again highlights the growing quality and popularity of the pop-surrealist / lowbrow movement in American contemporary art.

 

This time around, more artists than ever before will be a part of Surreal Salon, with the work of 60 artists from 23 different states set to be exhibited. The exhibition will be open to the public with no admission charges during normal gallery hours (Tuesday – Sunday, 12 – 6 p.m.).
